PGT Mixed Games Series Won After Alex Livingston Claims 10-Game Win 1o6h6q

With players such as Phil Hellmuth, John Hennigan and Daniel Negreanu all stepping into the spotlight, the 2024 PGT Mixed Games Series III finale was a thrilling one. Events #9 and #10 saw Alex Livingston and Walter Chambers claim titles, while American player Max Hoffman rode home to take the overall championship, with five cashes from just ten events.

With 41 entrants, the $25,000-entry 10-Game Championship was very much the Main Event of the 2024 PokerGO Tour Mixed Games Series III schedule, and it was won in style by a first-time PGT winner. Canadian professional Alex Livingston has performed superb poker for years and not for nothing is a former WSOP Main Event final table player. Here in Las Vegas, he showed he can dominate mixed games as well as No Limit Hold’em with consummate ease.

Winning an impressive $324,465 up top, Livingston was delighted to celebrate a vital win in his career after getting the better of a final table containing some real poker superstars. With only six players being paid, whoever came seventh would do so for now reward and it was Jared Bleznick who earned that dubious honor.

Livingston it was who sent Bleznick home but the Canadian didn’t have it all his own way once the money places were reached. Walter Chambers missed out on the latter stages, cashing in sixth for $61,500 before hitting the late registration desk for the 10^th and final event of the series, a decision that would prove highly valuable as we’ll cover later

Dylan Weisman won the second Mixed Games Series II overall leaderboard and once again dominated much of the action. His mixed game prowess was such that he ended up reaching the final two players with the chip lead. Taking care of WSOP luminary John Racener in fifth place for $82,000, Weisman took out Max Hoffman in No Limit 2-7 Single Draw for $112,750 before eliminating Mixed Games Series I winner Dan Zack in third for $153,750.

Heads-up, however, Livingston went on a tear and while Weisman ducked and dived, surviving for some time, a hand of No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw led to Livingston’s victory, 9-8-7-6-3 good for the title when Weisman showed only T-6-4-3-2 to slide out in second for $290,535.

“Been battling in the studio for a couple years,” said Livingston as he celebrated his win with friends in Las Vegas. “Got my first [win] in there last night – feels good!!”

The final event of the series saw just four players make the money as 28 took part in the $5,100 buy-in No Limit 2-7 Single Draw event. Pedro Bromfman from Brazil was the unfortunate ‘Bubble Boy’, missing out in fifth place for nothing as another of his countrymen, Felipe Ramos, pushed on towards the title showdown with Walter Chambers, who was cashing in his third event of the series.

After Bromfman left in fifth, John Riordan busted in fourth place for $15,400 before Jonathan Krela slid out in third place for $22,400. Chambers and Ramos could both celebrate excellent results in the event, as they battled to see who’d win the best part of the $100,000 they battled for.

As it turned out, Ramos was the runner-up, winning $39,200 as the American Walter chambers finally got his win at the third final table he’d reached over the course of the fortnight. The PokerGO Studio’s light won’t have too long to cool, with the 2024 PGT PLO Series starting on March 20.

With five cashes in ten PGT Mixed Games Series events, Max Hoffman won the $10,000 PGT port prize and over $375,000 in prizes over the 12 days of competition, raising his overall lifetime earnings to $587,000 in live rankings tournaments.  Racking up 331 points across the 10 events, Hoffman edged out the inaugural Mixed Games Series I champion Daniel Zack (287 points), and Jerry Wong (261 points) in the podium places.

Elsewhere in the top 10, there were strong showings from John ‘Johnny World’ Hennigan (256 points and Daniel Negreanu (253 points) as Kid Poker won over a quarter of a million dollars at one of his favorite cardrooms to play in the world.

Others to go close to lifting the Championship trophy were Mixed Games Series II winner Dylan Weisman (233 points), Event #9 winner 10-Game Alex Livingston (232 points) and Jeremy Ausmus (215 points), who earned just less than John Racener ($255,400) over the course of a thrilling series.
